Recreational Facility
The Rehabilitation and Recreation Facility of Sazamov is located in the district of the town of Domažlice in the village of Hradiště. It can be found below the Netřeb Castle ruin inside a natural preservation territory. The history of the buildings reaches back to the beginning of the 20th century when they were built by Matyáš Sazama, the local priest who was engaged in parish work in churches of Bavaria. The place bears his name. The premises stretch in the surroundings of the St. Peter’s Chapel.
Our Social Care Institute for the Physically Disabled in Zbůch purchased the facility in 1971. However, it took another 25 years to reconstruct the existing structures, but also to add new ones. Since 1996, the facility’s capacity can offer services to 40 people. The place is located in an environment with very fine climate conditions and due to its good ecology it is ranked as one of the cleanest locations of the west of Bohemia.
Photos of the facility and its interiors can be viewed in the Photogalery.
Accommodation is organized in three pavilions, each one of them equipped with a kitchen, bathroom and toilet, a room where clients can get together and socialize, three triple bedrooms, and one double room. The buildings are accessible for the disabled. The premises are apt even for movement of the immobile clients.
Catering
This can be arranged both in each of the pavilions and also in the central kitchen with a large dining hall attached. Another option is to have the food brought from the village where there is also a local grocery store and a restaurant.
Living in Sazamov
In order to enjoy rehabilitation and recreation, the clients can spend time in the swimming pool, on a playground, in the gym, in the socializing room, but also on the premises around that offer swings, sand pits, climbers, playhouses and others.
Trips
When looking for a hike, we recommend to walk in the region of Chodsko, Český les, Železná Ruda and Šumava. The closest border crossing with Germany is only 15 km far which makes it possible to go for a trip there as well. The German side offers natural parks and little towns along the frontier.
The facility in Sazamov provides its services to disabled children and youth who stay in various institutes of social care, in crèches, and other non-governmental organizations offering care to the disabled. Sazamov also provides its premises for training of healthcare workers, those involved in social care and education.
