Sports Club

The TJ ZP HALMA Zbůch is a disability sports membership organization of the SPASTIC HANDICAP sports federation. Our club closely cooperates with the Institute for the Physically Disabled Youth in Zbůch. It associates almost 170 members. On the other hand, the national umbrella federation of SPASTIC HANDICAP with its headquarters in the City of Teplice associates 12 sports clubs from the Czech Republic. Its membership amounts to over 4.500 people. Links to the sports, clubs, competitions and others can be found on the Czech Paralympic Committee web page.

The sports played in our club can be divided into two major groups::

1. The paralympic sports – Athletics, boccia, cycling and archery
2. Complementary sports – Water tourism, skiing, bowling, skittles, floorball, agility, aerobics, etc.

During the year, we take part in about 40 events in all the sports mentioned above. In the past 6 years some of our athletes have managed to gain important success in scope of their categories at national championships. To name just a few, it is Jana Polívková and Míra Gažák (medals in archery); Kristina Moravčíková and David Pětroš (medals in junior athletics) and Honza Urban and Radek Solař (both playing the first Czech boccia league).
The complementary activities, organized on a regular basis, are very much cherished among our clients as well. One of the popular events is the summer camp on the River Berounka where a dozen children from our club float down the stream in boats during several days. On the other hand, when winter arrives, they enjoy the skiing training camps the most. We organize trips to Petrovice, a little mountain village by the City of Ústí nad Labem.

The Sports Club and its specialized groups are not largely popular only among the Zbůch Institute clients, but they are also used by several people who are not direct clients of ours. Thus, we offer sports entertainment to other disabled people from the surroundings who feel like would like to have a good-quality sports experience.
